Born in Ankara in 1957, he graduated from the Middle East Technical University (METU) Department of Metallurgy. He settled in Istanbul for his professional career, where he served in the international trade department at Alarko Holding for 6 years. In 1991, he founded his own company specializing in gas systems, which became one of the leading firms in the market.
He began his artistic career in 1996 under the mentorship of Şermin Güner, a master in the fields of painting and sculpture. Starting in 2000, under her guidance, he participated in a total of three exhibitions in Ankara and Istanbul featuring his own works. In his early period, Tuğcu focused primarily on oil paintings with an emphasis on impressionist works. More recently, he has been diversifying his portfolio by incorporating abstract dimensions into his paintings using fluid acrylics and exploring various new techniques.
The main theme in Mr. Tuğcu’s works is to convey the awareness he gains by integrating with his own essence and creativity while painting, thereby providing others with a positive perspective on life.
